Clach Tholl - an easy half hour.

[MAP] [PHOTO]

A congenial but gentle stroll round the headland of the Appin peninsula. This one starts and finishes in Port Appin itself and you can leave a car in the Port Appin car park (if you can find a free place). The views down the Firth of Lorne and across to Lismore are grand. The track, which is good, takes you past several interesting bits of rock architecture, cliffs, caves and the sea-arch from which the walk takes its name (it means "the rock with a hole") [PHOTO]. Seals are often seen swimming off the point at Appin rocks. In Autumn the cliff above the sea-arch is drenched in the colours of a bonfire. The [PHOTO] was taken in mid-November when the colours were past their best. I'll catch it next year.
