THE REPRESENTATION OF PHYSICAL OBJECTS

I'M STILL WORKING ON THIS BIT

A Rectangular Prism
I'll start with this one, because it is the simplest physical object I can think of. It has three regular dimensions. Call them "length", "width" and "height". Each of those has a measure. The actual measurement in numerical terms is irrelevant. In any case, the numerical measurement depends upon the measurement scale we are using. NASA scientists found that out to their embarrassment when they crashed a multi-million dollar space probe on to the surface of Mars because of a confusion between feet and inches and metres and centimetres.
Anyway, our rectangular thing has a length ("L"), it has a width ("W") and it has a height ("H"). We need, in addition to that information, some indication of the coordinate system we are using. Three axes. Call them X, Y and Z.
