RETURN
[MAP]
You can always walk back the way you came. If the weather is great and you are feeling super
then that's the way to go - back over the Mam Barrisdale and back along the destitution road
from Barrisdale to Kinlochhourn where your car awaits. A signpost at the start in Inverie says
it is 14 miles to Kinlochhourn. That is a lie. It is longer. Your legs will have told you that
when you walked in by that route. So, if you are a normal human being,
you will welcome a less strenuous return. Take the ferry boat to Mallaig - 11am from inverie Pier every
Monday, Wednesday and Friday. if you have important meetings and things to attend (there's no
accounting for tastes) confirm these times with a phone call to Bruce Watt who runs the ferry.
His number is 01687-462-320.
The boat trip is a good one in normal conditions with fine views
of the rugged hills of Morar and Loch Nevis.

In Mallaig be quick and you will catch the bus for
Fort William where, if you have been quietly plotting this easy exit, you will have left a
second car in the long-stay car-park by the railway station. If you don't fancy the bus,
there is a train at four in the afternoon and on certain days there is a steam train for a
nostalgic trip by one of the most scenic of railway lines.
